Calendar of Events - Summer/Fall 2008
Summer is our busiest and most popular season, and that's because we have so many great activities happening during the summer!! Check them all out!!
- MAY - AVENUE OF THE GIANTS MARATHON
The first week in May kicks off our season with the Avenue Of The Giants Marathon. This takes place the first weekend in May. You have the option of running the 10K, Half Marathon or Full Marathon. The Avenue Of The Giants Marathon is set on a breathtaking course following a paved road under towering Giant Redwoods and bordering the Eel River. - MAY - MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
Memorial Day is always celebrated during the last weekend in May. This three-day weekend officially kicks off the camping season for us. We of course host all of our well-loved, traditional fun events such as: Find The Rock Scavenger Hunt, Movie Night for Kids, Ice Cream Social, Karaoke By The Campfire and Bingo. - JUNE - REDWOOD RUN
This is the Ultimate Biker Party for Harley Davidson Riders. This annual event is held the second weekend in June. This whole area is thrumming with the excitement of approximately 15,000 Harley Davidson riders. Here at the resort we have a live band that plays rock ‘n roll into the wee hours of the morning. We are located only 5 miles from the 'Pit' where the event is held. This is a fabulous weekend for all that attend and one of our favorite weekends of the year!! You can learn more at: Redwood Run
- JUNE - KATE WOLF MEMORIAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
This annual event is held the last weekend in June to celebrate the music of Kate Wolf. There are over 20 bands that play each year. And the best part is that it is held only 20 minutes south of us! You can purchase tickets and learn more at: Kate Wolf Festival
- JULY - ANNUAL 4th OF JULY OLYMPICS
This is one of Redwoods River Resort's biggest events! If you have children you don’t want to miss this one! We have an action packed weekend with lots of laughs and many exciting things to do. The campground is divided into two colors, the Red Team & the Blue Team. Then the two teams compete in various events against each other. Here are just a few of the events in the competition that we host: A Chocolate Pie Eating Contest, Canoe Race in the Pool, Tug of War and Water-Balloon Toss! Plus we also have our beloved traditional events like Karaoke by The Campfire, Ice Cream Social and others. Many families return year after year to enjoy this fun-filled family weekend! - AUGUST - REGGAE ON THE RIVER® FESTIVAL
The Reggae On The River® Festival is the original, often imitated, never duplicated summertime festival! Internationally acclaimed as three days of 'the best Reggae and World music experience to be found', this annual event takes place the first weekend in August. The festival is held approximately six miles north of the Resort. And there is even a convenient shuttle service that is provided by the Festival that stops right in front of our Resort! - AUGUST - SHAKESPEARE ON THE LAKE
Described as 'live theatre under the stars, surrounded by the beauty of the redwoods', this annual classical theatre event is dedicated to the production of the classic novels of the Bard. They have a huge stage that is set on the bank of the Eel River and dwarfed by a grove of towering redwoods. Catered dinners are available at every show and they present classic plays such as: Two Gentlemen of Verona, King Lear and That Rascal Scapin. This event is held the last two weeks in August, and is a fabulous experience for all! You can get exact play titles, show dates and times and purchase tickets at: Shakespeare At Benbow Lake
- SEPTEMBER - LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Don’t let the summer end without a bang! Join us for our big Labor Day weekend End of Summer Celebration, always held the first weekend in September. We will be featuring all of our traditional fun events, such as: Karaoke By The Campfire, Find The Rock Scavenger Hunt, Movie Night, Ice Cream Social and Bingo. There are also lots of sports amenities for you right here at the Resort, along with hiking trails to the river where you can float, snorkel and swim to your heart's desire. This is a wonderful time for the whole family to get together one last time for a lot of fun and activity before the kids head back to school!
- OCTOBER - HUMBOLDT REDWOODS MARATHON
The Six Rivers Running Club hosts an annual Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K in mid October. The location is the same as the marathon in May, the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, located just 40 minutes away. The courses are on pavement and almost entirely under a canopy of old growth redwoods. While summer is our busiest and most popular season, we also encourage you to consider visiting us during the other seasons, for crisp nights and beautiful days that are less hectic - and less expensive too! And as you can see, a variety of activities is available year-round.

- Fall - FALL CAVALCADE OF COLORS
The fall foliage colors are something to behold - our native maples, alders, redbuds and dogwoods are quite a spectacle to behold just before leaf drop, normally in Mid-November. It's a wonderful time for auto, motorcycle or bicycle touring.
- Fall/Winter - FISHERMEN'S SPECIAL
Mid-November to February is also the season for intrepid fisherman when Silver and King Salmon make their annual run up the Eel River to spawn. In January, February and March, the Salmon are joined by the annual run of Steelhead, which hit the scales from 4 to 18 pounds. Our resort has access on the Eel River and offers fishermen special rates during this time of year. Just think ... you can fish in the morning and cook your catch in your kitchenette that evening! Call or e-mail us for details! The challenge is always exciting.
- Winter - COZY WINTER NIGHTS
The rainy winter months of December and January are a wonderful time to be tucked away in one of our cozy cabins with a wood burning stove glowing warmly and the hypnotic patter of rain on the roof, curled up with a good book or your sweetheart ...
- Spring - SPRING CAVALCADE OF COLORS
The months of March and April are special times at Redwood River Resort, with Rose Buds, Dogwoods, Trillium, Lilies, Orchids, California Lilac and other colorful flowers blooming to delight us all.
Group Events
Because of our large variety of accommodations, Redwoods River Resort is the perfect place for family reunions, church retreats, business seminars and school retreats. A group BBQ, campfire area and activity room are available for group functions at no extra charge. Many groups return on an annual basis! Special Group Rates available October thru May 15th.
